My passion for photography started when I was attending Lehigh University. I was a fine art major and only studied drawing and painting but decided to try an intro to photography class. My career intention at the time was to work for museums and restore artwork. Why did that idea pop up in my head? I have no clue.
At lot of our direction in life comes from good role models that influence us and nurture our inspiration by opening up new possibilities. My first influence in photography was Doug Mason who was my instructor at Lehigh and was also a commercial photographer. He gave his students a great foundation not only on the technical and creative aspects but also the application and importance of photography. Seeing examples of Doug’s commercial work opened my mind and gave me a new direction in life.
One of my favorite subjects is architecture so it wouldn’t surprise anyone that I concentrated on photographing buildings at Lehigh University. It was a great learning experience with plenty to work with. One of my favorite buildings on campus is Linderman Library. The library dates back to 1878 and was designed by Philadelphia architect Addison Hutton. The building recently went through a renovation so I had to check it out and perhaps add some personal projects to my portfolio. This was also an experiment to see how much my photography has changed over 14 years. I admit that I’m embarrassed to show my early work but I’m glad to share my current images of the library. Below are three views in the rotunda area.

I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Philly Creative Guide and was featured in February 2010. Here is the Philly Creative Guide link.
This was a nice way to share a little more about my background and thoughts. The bio on my website can only cover so much and I hope this attracts the local creative talent to my abilities in architectural photography.

I enjoy sharing great news and I’m pleased to announce that Friends Center located in Philadelphia’s Center City has beed awarded LEED platinum certification. UJMN Architects + Designers oversaw the Friends Center renovation and I was excited when they contacted me to photograph such an incredible project. The renovation took many years and I remember driving by the location several times and wondering if I would have the honor to photograph it.
I’d like to thank UJMN Architects + Designers for their trust in my abilities and for being such great clients, it’s always a pleasure. Congratulations on such a great achievement!

In an earlier post I showed an image from a theater project I was working on. I’m finally caught up and thought it would be neat to show off some of the other views. This is a great theater and since it’s a high school I’m even more impressed. Check out my website often because I’m always working on something new! Here is an interior photo I did of Kroon Hall at Yale University. I was hired by the window manufacturer and spent most of my time doing detail shots in certain areas. I couldn’t resist taking some photos for myself though and managed this shot. Wish I could have spent some quality time on more interior views like this but I had a mission to accomplish for other purposes. Very neat building!

I get a lot of nice comments about this restaurant photo and I must admit that it’s one of my favorites. I recently updated my website and edited through more images from the same project. Whenever a great project comes along there are so many options for portfolio selections but I try not to pick too many. I thought I’d share a very different perspective of the restaurant. The first image is the primary chosen view for my portfolio.

The second image is fine but it doesn’t read as well as the primary view for my portfolio purposes. For the interior designers (Rose Authentica & Linda Daniels Design) this was an important view to document the interior beyond the archway and see the opposite perspective. This is a great place and it’s nice to see options. The interior designers did an incredible job and I thank them for the opportunity.
